Past, Present, and Future
And here we go....Happy Lewis? ;) Well, 2009 has been probably the most challenging and rewarding year for me. My life has definitely become more interesting, fun, and at times completely stressful. Currently I believe I have such a rewarding job. I run an after school program in a High School in the Bronx. The school is pretty rough, but I am confident I will help these kids discover things they never even knew about themselves. I haven't officially started with the students (that's Oct, 5) but I've met some of them and I already see how much potential and drive they have. It's weird how I even ended up here in the first place. Back in May, when I was working with my former Employer, this job didn't even exist. In May is when I found out I was pregnant. It was completely unexpected news. I didn't plan for it of course, considering I wasn't ready to be a parent. When I found out the news, it was like someone branded me for about 3 seconds, gave me a wake-up push and I instantly started planning for what was up ahead. My life revolved around doing everything that was needed for my child. I saved any money I worked for and flourished my brain with "Mommy" knowledge. Honestly I don't believe you can get the true knowledge of a Mother until you actually become a Mom and raise your child. It was pretty rough being pregnant and working with Middle School students. Especially coaching the cheer team. I couldn't do anything I use to. I wasn't hands on anymore and it was pretty hard for me. Competition season is one of the most tiring and stressful times and being pregnant just made things more rough. On June 1st, I miscarried the child to be born in January. It was so tough for me to deal with this, I had made plans for the path I was given, but obviously my life was going down another. Around this time was also when I decided I would not go back to working with my middle school students. I had been working their 3 years and I felt like my time there was over and I needed to move on. The summer was a pretty sad one, but it was when I realized that I needed to start planning for MY future. Being pregnant was one of the most amazing things I've felt. But I feel like I've been given the opportunity to grow and succeed in my life so eventually I can be more prepared and ready for children in the future. After this, everything in my life has been pretty uphill from here. I landed this new amazing job that brings growth, good money, and wonderful opportunities for me, I'm healthier than I was last year, and my hair isn't falling out! I have this Group Discussion website starting soon which I know will be a total success, and let's not forget about my Cheer apparel business. All of the smaller aspirations I have seem to be falling in place and leading me closer to my life time goals. I really couldn't be happier right now. The only person probably nagging me in my life right now is Eddy about the game Aion. I want to hurt you Eddy! Lol.. Kidding....
